Košice A.I.R.

The international residential programme, Košice A.I.R. (artists in residence), is designed for foreign artists who would like to create and cooperate with Košice artists and the public. Reversely, Košice artists may participate in foreign residencies in some partner countries.

The project has three main aims:
• to support the creativity of invited and delegated artists,
• to stimulate the art scene in Košice, in the region and in Slovakia, as well as dialogue with the public,
• to create/strengthen the environment for innovative and contemporary art projects with international partners.

The international call for artists is open every year. Selection is carried out by a jury consisting of local and international specialists. Each artist contributes towards the social environment of a town and region by creating relationships and cooperation with local artists. They prepare lectures, projections, workshops and open ateliers for the public. A final exhibition/presentation introduces the resident’s work.
